Bob Seger

Classic Rock 1970s 3 episodes

About

Out of Detroit, Michigan came one of rock's most genuinely working-class voices, Bob Seger, who spent the better part of the 1960s grinding through the local bar and club scene before finally breaking through nationally in the mid-1970s. Backed by the Silver Bullet Band, a tight, road-hardened outfit featuring stalwarts like Alto Reed on saxophone and Drew Abbott on guitar, Seger crafted a sound that felt lived-in and honest, blending heartland rock with R&B grit and a storytelling sensibility that always kept one foot planted firmly on Main Street. His vocals, raspy and full of genuine emotion, became one of the most recognizable instruments in classic rock.
