Duran Duran debut is 40

40 years ago today Duran Duran dropped their debut album in The U.K. where it remained on the charts for over 2 years. This record flopped in The U.S. until 2 years later when it was re-released after the success of the follow-up "Rio". It then spent 87 weeks on the charts mostly due to the breakout hit (and your SOTD) "Girls On Film". The video was banned all over the place and a "day version" was released.
