Van Halen MCMXXXIV 1984 39th anniversary

Jan 9, 2023

On this day in 1984 the mighty Van Halen dropped a little record called MCMLXXIV. 1984 would be the last with the quintessential frontman David Lee Roth until 2012. At this point they became the biggest band in the world. 4 singles and tons of MTV exposure, I would argue 6 singles should have made it and Hot For Teacher should have charted higher. That said, this could have been my first concert on March 29, 1984 in Hartford but alas it was not. What a record this is. Your SOTD may be a surprise but it should have been a hit: Drop Dead Legs is where its at today. Crank it up because Diamond Dave and the crew were at their best.
