In 1964 Manfred Mann (the band) founded by South African-English keyboardist, singer, songwriter Manfred Mann (the man) went to number 1 with a song released the year before by The Exciters. Their version sung by women was "There HE is just a walking down the street" 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy' would show up in all kinds of places for decades to come. SOTD
