In the Canadian summer of 1989 and December of the same year in The U.S. newcomer Alannah Myles dropped her debut record with this catchy tune written by 2 fellow Canadians. After being on a bus with a bunch of fans heading to Graceland for the 10th anniversary vigil for Elvis they wrote this song. Black velvet to me is like a nice worn pair of jeans. Trusty and true, you forget how much you like 'em until you put them back on. Nothing fancy, just real good. I love the Bluesy intro and her silk smooth voice. This never gets old. A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees Black Velvet if you please.
